Re: Elvis Costello SOLO across Europe this Autumn
I had the middle two.........timed out........then the next two along........timed out........then two at the other side........timed out I swore and made gestures at the laptop which clearly made a difference as the timing out stopped! Every time I have seen Elvis in Scotland, the same chap is alw...

Re: "Elvis Costello: Mystery Dance" - docu. - BBC4 Nov. 8 '1
I felt the 90m version was a good stab at what is a long, complex and sometimes chaotic career and I learnt some new stuff and it made me think of other parts of his career differently. I was livid at the omission in the "For the Stars" cover on the album sleeve montage as this was a slopp...

Don't know if this is publicity for documentary but it seems the BBC have woken up to Elvis.

Re: New album for 2013: "Wise Up Ghost" (with The Roots!)
I'd like to give a shout to the track 'Wise Up Ghost' which I find monumental, insistent and the defining moment of the excellent album. Is it "reign" as the sleeve says or "rain" as I hear it? The voice and drums just next to one another sounds great, one languid, the other fren...

Re: WISE UP GHOST Deluxe
Just some more thoughts on the Deluxe edition. Mine came with the glue smeared from the packaging onto the disc. Sent it straight back (played vinyl edition instead) and got 2nd copy - glue free, the next day. The cut out ridge on the bottom of the back sleeve seems to allow for an easy separation o...

This is a great picture of Ben (above) from last night. He made the finale of the show special as he expressed how great it was to be up there on stage with EC. His singing and interacting was brilliant and I managed to tell him so on the way out. Loved the Rezillo's T shirt too.

What's this about Milton Keynes on the 9th June? Is Birmingham re-arranged? Website now lists it as MK that night.

Re: Reflections of the UK Tour
The tour must surely be seen as a success. Audiences have gone away happy - die-hard fans and more casual fans seemed equally pleased. I know that I will always want to hear those songs that are rarely played and by seeing a couple of dates this has satisfied me. Media reviews seemed to enjoy it and...

Re: Elvis/The Imposters, Cambridge May 26 '12
I had the Cambride show to compare with Glasgow and I agree that the standing made a great difference to the atmosphere and my enjoyment for the better. He seemed to race through the opening hour and the pace was more frentic. Heard some songs I hadn't heard him play live before in the Numbers secti...

Radio Shows on Cassette
Taking inspiration from SoulForHire I took to my loft and got down some BBC radio shows on cassette that someone may want to converet to Flac if they feel they are of importance or not available. I have: In conversation with Annie Nightingale 21-04-84 Desert Island Discs 23-02-92 God of the Week wit...

Thank you for this thoughtful description of a beautiful song. I met my future wife at the time of KOA and Jack of All Parades and I'll Wear It Proudly are our "go to" EC songs when we want to reaffirm our relationship. I can't believe he hasn't played it in that long and it is certainly o...

He was brief, brilliant and relaxed. He sang the Pennies to Heaven refrain followed by Voice in the Dark chorus and had the presenters eating out of his hands. Genius.

Transfering EC live show FLACs to CD
This is a request for software advice. What are people's suggestions as the best software (free or otherwise) for coverting FLAC files on to CD's for playing (in my car) Have tried Winamp but didn't like how this is set up and latest upgrade has removed the facility anyway. What else is there that i...

Obradoiro is the main square outside the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela and a majestic site for an open air concert. For those in UK, Ryanair fly direct to Santiago from Stanstead inexpensively. Gailicia is well worth a visit and when I was there last summer very cheap.

The songs are sublime and worth geting excited about. Maybe John when you heard as much EC as we have we end u...

Thought I'd alert people to the fact that I found a promo copy on cd of the new album in Edinburgh on my latest visit (13 tracks). There must be others knocking about. Sounds great with the arrangements and playing of a very high quality.
