Exceedingly decent of you, TPPD.

I nabbed each off of Dime, and I must say that they are both gems.
At this juncture of the tour, your 2 shows are essential.

Thanks for the work, and generous behavior.

CBS released 500 "official copies" of the El Mo recording - I know, 'cause I got one. Right -- but just the Costello stuff. The Nick Lowe encores weren't included. And the "promo EP" of the Lowe material that later surfaced was never a real promo release -- just a clever angle f...

Nope. Never.

It only exists through the original live broadcast of the show.

Any decent Elvis Costello fan read at least one book...and any decent book should explain the story. Read thy books and then you will understand. Oh yes! The books! The future chapters will detail how Elvis scored some crystal meth to celebrate the birth of the baby-to-be. Bruce T. will write a boo...

This one sounds pretty good.

Apparently recorded by plugging into one of the remote listening devices for the hearing impaired.

Weird balance -- vocals dominant -- but quite listenable.
Too bad about the truncated Festival setlist...

This show contains a rare, and quite nice, full-band version of "Heathen Town". Also contains nice solo encore of the then unreleased "Great Unknown" -- a song that I have always loved, and feel has really never received its due. (I'm sure it's partly guilt by association due to ...

This is a first time torrent from a guy with an amazing collection. It's been a learning experience for him and he should be encouraged. It's straight off of a "Commercial Bootleg" of the name "Riot Act".
Sorry for the confusion.

It is as broadcast, as far as I remember. (BBC, I'd assume...)
The bonus tracks were added on the original boot.
(The Dime version is as complete as I've run across...)

Just got home from the show. Really nice -- although the pacing is awfully slow. (It was interesting that Costello spent at least the majority of the Il Sogno performance observing from the Loge section just above the left of the stage. I didn't notice him until about 1/3 of the way through -- but h...

The only Honky Tonk Demo material I've heard is what Rhino has re-issued on their bonus discs. That's all there is -- 6 songs. There was a Virgin Demo that circulated many years back that was similar, in that it was acoustic demos. The sound was nowhere near the quality of the Honky Tonk boots that...

Re: This Year's Girl / Radio Radio on the dvd

I also still love Stewart Copeland. He's right up there with Pete. With all due respect -- uh uh. No way. Pete's the best, hands down -- considering his verstility, impeccable taste, subtlety when appropriate, and full maniacal application when needed. Copeland's good, or was. (Where is he?) Thomas...

The "tone"/"climate" of the Flip City stuff, I think, is dictated largely by the fact that this was a "Band Situation" -- largely influenced by Brinsley Schwarz and the other "Pub Rockers" of the time. Sure, McManus was the driving force, certainly, but that s...

I haven't really compared the sound quality, but I must say that I was rather surprised by the exclusion of so many tracks on the re-issue. I fully expected the Rhino release to make King of Americana largely redundant. Can't say that I'm sorry it didn't happen that way. Unless my bootleg degrades -...

I just got around to listening to this. The piano intro for CCIU #4 is the melody from the early part of "The Letter Home", (the "why must I always apologize" part...). I don't recall ever hearing of this -- and he wasn't doing it on the US part of the tour, certainly. (I've got ...
