I find the complaints about the sound quality completely mystifying because the main album has not been remastered for the new release. It should sound exactly the same as the Rhino CD — and my copy, at least, does sound exactly the same. They also look the same when I compare the files with a wa...

Re: hope y'all did well

It became obvious at 9:58 that the GAMH ticket site was taking a long time to refresh, so tickets.com and its assorted fees became the more viable option. I got through to the website and on the phone at the same time, so got my tickets by phone. I took the opposite approach. I figured that the GAM...

Costello was screwing around to use part of the backing track for aforementioned Mina song as a loop (sample). I suspect that he found that the only way to have the beat flow properly included that "errant" syllable from the vocal. It seems to be pure Costello luck -- cuz it sure is cool s...

How would Elvis have physically done this though? If it were a record or a CD surely it would be sealed so how would he insert it? He wouldn't have been able to open these up and put the CDRs in them. Nor would he have gone into the store and placed his own copy into the racks. Any ideas? :? I'd im...

Pete Thomas -- M.I.A. on Europe EC/AT dates

My apologies if I overlooked an explanation of this previously, but:

Does anyone know why Pete Thomas was not involved in the shows this summer in Europe with Costello/Toussaint?

(I'm assuming prior commitments...)

Does anybody know if any of the outtakes on disc one are with Clover or are they merely more solo demos (yawn)? I'd bet that they're all solo. I doubt that any demos were done with Clover. (They just went in and bashed the studio cuts out...) I must say -- I'm delighted with this release. Having sa...

I just listened to night #1.

The end of Jack of All Parades has a snippet of Big Nothing.
I don't know that I've ever heard reference to this being played (other than the taped lead-in music @ shows...)

It sure sounds like an original to me. It was premiered last October when Elvis made a surprise appearance at a T Bone Burnett concert. It was also played Wednesday, the opening night of the current tour. Yeah -- you may be right. Upon hearing it again, it just struck me as a cover. Probably wrong...

I'm thinking now that it's most probably a cover.

I really like it. But I have an emotional attachment to it -- because it was used as lead-in music for the "Costello Sings Again" shows in 1986. As a result, I heard it 8 times in (I guess) 9 days (LA & SF). And, as it was (at that time) unreleased, it was quite the treat. I'll always ...
