I went. Pretty much same set as other locations. EC was in fine focal form along with the Impostors but the acoustics (muddy) + viewing (limited sight lines) at the venue really suck. I almost didn't go because of those facts. Unfortunately the better sounding clubs (for example the 8X10) in Baltimo...

Brilliant, speed-driven incisive songwriting - absolutely classic. But what's with the awful, tinny production??? That is one of the things I really love about it. I don't think the production is bad or tinny at all except the opening track, which, imo, is really hurt by that sound. I like the demo...

Maestro Allen Toussaint at Blues Alley Washington, DC 032507

Saw AT last night with Marva Wright. What a show! I sat five feet from the Maestro. Highlight for me was 'Wrong Number' which AT wrote for Arron Neville. AT said that he doesn't normally do a 4 night stand like he did a BA. Said he would be back. Marva Wright was a very nice addition. She came up fr...

Both places are pretty much standing only with no assigned seating. I didn't think the sound quality at RH was very good last time EC played there minus SN. The 9:30 is ok but not the best either. The Warner Theater in DC would be best IMHO but he hasn't played there since late 1970s (see famous boo...

Just back from seeing Allen at the Avalon Theater in Easton, Maryland. FANTASTIC show in a perfect setting! Allen mentioned that EC called him today to tell the DVD is all set so go out and buy them as Christmas gifts. Said EC is one Serious Cat to work with. Played 'Ascension Day' (san lyrics) duri...

[quoteTRIR hasn't hit me too hard because as someone else here said it's a bunch of covers, and anyone can do that. [/quote] Isn't AT on the album too? Just because AT only sings one song doesn't mean his mark isn't all over the record. Anybody that caught TRIR tour witnessed AT's impact on EC and t...

TRIR's production and engineering are great (TDM and especially WIWC were not IMHO). Big props to JH. I also noticed the concert sound was great for the TRIR tour. I think this might have something to do with having AT around. Sure hope EC keeps these high sound standards moving forward. BTW TRIR is...

Wow! As it turns out, the tune was written by Naomi Neville (mom, sister? of the Nevilles, and The Meters) along with none other than Allen Toussaint)...

As I mentioned on the other thread I hope EC decides to record some of this tour. These songs shine even brighter in a live setting IMHO. BTW the sound and performances were super last evening at WT. But WT's geat acoustics might actually prove problematic (background noise) when taping from a crowd...

EC & AT @ Wolf Trap, Vienna, VA 06/15/06

Best EC show I have ever seen (27 years). Just all around unbelievable! The Great AT has moved things to another level IMHO. Everyone has to get out and see this tour. I will leave the details (highlight after highlight) to others. One funny side note is EC didn't understand the boos when he mention...

I really love the album. Always been a giant AT fan and knew he would come through. The production and engineering (sound) are top notch. JH deserves some major props for that. IMHO the last two albums didn't sound that great.
