Re: 10 NIGHTS AT THE GRAMERCY NYC FEB 2023

Just bought a ticket for the 17th through the Elvis pre-sale and it cost $178 for Floor Row E. The same row is showing as $414 on Live Nation. I've definitely paid over the odds for the other three nights I'm going to but what kind of bullshit pricing is this? At least if you buy through the Elvis ...

Great show and Elvis was in great voice. Made a video - (let me know if it's not allowed and I'll remove link.) Great intro with a fun tease! https://youtu.be/kgn1BaTkxGI Thanks for this! I was standing next to a few drunks who ruined half this number with their non-stop blather. They finally left ...

I think it's a boot - Amazon lists the label as "Gossip." Still could be great to have if the quality's good.

Mayes lives in Austin, but I imagine at least the later session(s) may still be unrelated to the Rusty album?

Re: Relatively Insignificant EC Stuff. . .

Love the Pogues, and I was introduced to them through the album EC produced (still my favorite Pogues LP along with the next one, If I Should Fall from Grace with God , which Steve Lillywhite produced). One of the highlights of Rum Sodomy & the Lash is "A Pair of Brown Eyes," and now C...

Re: Uncut 300th issue - glaring omission!!!

I'm not sure where I'd rank them, but if I were to put together a top 300 since 1997, Painted from Memory , When I Was Cruel , The Delivery Man and The Boy Named If would be in the running. Most likely When I Was Cruel and The Boy Named If would get in there. There's some great stuff on Wise Up Ghos...

Nice! I thought that was also one of the standout tracks on Hey Clockface, maybe even my favorite.

Re: Summer Tour 2022 (US / Canada)

I looked up the Evanston show, and even though I've never been to that golf course (as I don't golf), I know exactly where it is - it's right by Northwestern's football stadium and pretty much in the middle of downtown Evanston, where it borders Wilmette. There's a Metra train that goes directly the...

Elvis Costello and Mavis Nicholson

EC's social media had a clip of his 1989 interview with Nicholson, calling it his favorite interview, so I thought I'd check it out, then share it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wD70PvJQW_o I can see why it would be favorite - I kind of wish more interviews with recording artists were this in...

Re: Spike 2LP REISSUE ON GREEN VINYL

There's only one instrumental on Spike ("Stalin Malone"). What were the other two omissions? For whatever reason, I remembered two instrumentals - maybe I'm misremembering some bonus track as an album track? Regardless, the other two tracks were probably "Any King's Shilling" an...

Re: Spike 2LP REISSUE ON GREEN VINYL

I didn't know the original vinyl edition omitted one track. Omissions make sense if you want to fit it on vinyl disc, but even with that omission it still ran over an hour, which is a ridiculous running time for a single LP. It wouldn't be hard to make a double LP that sounds much better given that ...

At last night's (Wed., March 2) Elton John concert at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY, Elton gave a shout out to "Elvis and Diana," who apparently brought their two children to the concert as well. It was the last Brooklyn show on Elton's farewell tour, and Elton mentioned that in order to...

Re: Summer Tour 2022 (US / Canada)

Pier 17 doesn't have any seats permanently installed. I'm speculating it'll be like Damrosch Park at Lincoln Center (where Nick Lowe once played a free summer show). They're going to bring in rows of folding chairs (probably secured together in some way), and whichever row you're in, you get your pi...

Just to clear up some confusion regarding the NYC show: Today's presale is through EC's official site (not Ticketmaster). There are various presales through ticketmaster starting tomorrow. Here is the link for today's presale: https://tour.elviscostello.com/#/liveevents/6054/Elvis-Costello-and-The-...

Confusing: I've seen NYC presale listed as today in some places, tomorrow in others Me too but it's definitely Thursday not today. I checked the page yesterday just to get some other info, and they had no presales of any kind today, they're all tomorrow. And just to concur with the above post, I've...

Re: The Boy Named If, new album by Elvis & The Imposters, January 14, 2022

This new album is quite a surprise. The last album I really liked from start-to-finish was The Delivery Man and even that took some time to grow on me, but right off the bat, this one just grabbed. I almost couldn't believe it, but I've played several times and this is the first album in a while tha...

I'm new to this site and I just saw this thread - had no idea they were this vigilant! Excellent, thanks for sharing! Has he ever put out a full-length release where it's only him and a guitar or keyboard instrument and little else? Costello & Nieve is somewhat in that direction (IIRC quite a few tracks don't have Nieve) and I love listening to that. Considering how wonderful his ...

Re: Re-examination of "Punch the Clock"

Hadn't heard about this possible track listing, but even without hearing it, I can tell it'd be an improvement. There's just too much blaring going on with the horns (despite it being excellent blaring), and these would've been a respite. The horn arrangements are probably my least favorite thing a...

Re: Re-examination of "Punch the Clock"

I tried listening to a different sequence of this album based on EC's comments in the liner notes. For the bonus tracks, he writes that the outtakes/B-sides "Heathen Town" and "The Flirting Kind" 'should have been part of Punch the Clock . I was still so uncertain about the runni...
