I can understand Costello being uncomfortable about discussing or performing this song when he doesn't feel it's the occasion to discuss or perform it, but I think it's a misrepresentation to imply that the song has somehow been disowned or grown out of - particularly as it's been performed numerous...

In the words of another Elvis/Ross Macmanus-related song - AT LAST Why - did you think she was immortal? As I posted on the other thread, Costello has on occasion been distinctly uncomfortable about this song. Its of its time. Let it stay there. Hmmm, Costello didn't sound very uncomfortable singin...

On first listen through with a guitar (no warranty here!), I would play it like this. There is some guesswork/feel involved in deciding between the As / A7s etc, due to the number of stringed instruments in the mix it's difficult to offer a definitive verdict...
