Re: EC to Tour Australia in October

Let's hope some decent recordings show up. Funny but out of my boot collection, I'd say less than 5 per cent are Aussie please dear God, let the guy who recorded this MONSTER of a show still be into recording. I LEFT MY HONDA OUTSIDE; one of my FAVE boots EVER!!! Concert 1985-06-25 Melbourne From E...

Re: Best EC Album of the Past 10 years

You have misinterpreted the reactions of these guys. For one thing, they wouldn't work with him if they didn't think he could sing. More to the point, I have spoken to singers who have worked with EC and most of them are amazed at how good he is ... and also at how BIG his voice is. Remember, he ca...

I think Stranger in the House is incredibly trite...even for a country song. Elvis has written a hundred better.

Re: EC to Tour Australia in October

Ah well, guess he was due a trip down under. I was hoping for some European dates before the end of the year, but this seems unlikely if the report is true about filming a 2nd season of Spectacle before the end of the year.. Still, that's good news in itself. So a concert debut in Singapore before A...

Did I once hear about (the existence of) a version of Viva las Vegas featuring Elvis, Shane and possibly Tom Waits?

Reckon there must be quite a few Elvis/Pogues outtakes on some cutting room floor...

Re: Relatively Insignificant EC Stuff. . .

Oh and there's an instrumental bit on The Juliet Letters that is ripped directly from one of the Shostakovich string quartets can't recall which. Ripped? I reckon you’re likely referring to the Shostakovich quote that occurs as the line “…and I was thinking of something you said” is sung in ‘I Thou...

What Davey may lack in bass technicalities he MORE than makes up for in backing vocals. Many songs sound better for it, including some that wouldn't have been risked without backing vox. Gotta move on. Bruce is fantastic, but if he's a miserable .. What y gonna do

Thanks for posting this. She later played nice version of "Ipanema" live with jazz trio. Maybe the Children's album's on the back burner, it's not the first time it's been mooted! She was also on the BBC breakfast show, the next day (Monday). No performance, and looking a little rough at t...

Re: Elvis is King . . . of collaborations!

Must insist THE EMOTIONAL TOOTHPASTE doesn’t belong it’s merely a psuedonym. THE COSTELLO SHOW & THE MACMANUS GANG are also a bit tenuous, unless that’s meant to include Ross Macmanus, who should be number 1 on your list of collaborators, both chronologically and also as the biggest single influ...
