You can download the whole show (and every other US late-night talk show) here: http://www.latebyte.nl/ (have to register first - Google Translate comes in handy as the site's in Dutch) Thanks for the link Scielle. I registered & downloaded, hopefully this link will continue to prove handy. Re ...

Re: Elvis on The Colbert Report, Nov.19 '09

Only thing I've ever seen of Colbert is his Christmas thing and now this. I can't say I find him hilarious but he sings Cheap Reward really well. Thinking about it, the song is quite appropriate given what they were speaking about.

there are loads of hostile comments at the above link My favorite is the one about Elvis being great friends with Sean Penn, apparently a reference to this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=APO4N-PA50Y Most of those comments are outrageous. It's scary to think there are so many addled minds out there...

Re: Elvis Costello 'mash ups'

Just this week I've heard 2 so called EC mashes for the first time. First one was a mash of Alicia Keys (baby baby baby??) with the piano riff of Oliver's Army. Works pretty well. Titled as "no name army" Second one uses parts of Everyday I Write The Book, probably from one of the extended...

Re: Relatively Insignificant EC Stuff. . .

How can you diss Phil Collins? One of the best drummers of our time. You're right he isn´t as offensive as Numan, and speaking as a drummer myself, he´s pretty good though I prefer Dave Weckl, Vinnie Coliauta, Chad Wackerman or even Chester Thompson, just to name a few. But does he really have to s...

Re: Relatively Insignificant EC Stuff. . .

A Gary Numan fan has dug up this - " If they're jealous, say it: 'He's a cunt, but I would like his car, his house and probably his girlfriend.' D'you know, Elvis Costello's manager hit the man who signed me, for signing me?! Now, that is very unnecessary. Like you're so great, Elvis." Ga...

I was thinking the same John., but doesn't the song allude to the couple being on holiday or honeymoon. Bridlington is a seaside town, maybe an unlikely honeymoon destination, for some.. however it IS very close to Bruce Thomas' town of Middlesbrough... :D

Just got around to listening to this now, and I'd say it's the best sounding recording of the tour, and I've heard most of em.

Nice close warm sound and a couple of rare songs too. Thanks for sharing this, and if you haven't heard it yet. go download it.

over here in Spain, I´ve seen Spanish,German and English versions of the mag (all different covers and content it seems)but no sign of Elvis. Is it the September issue we're talking about or is it October, which I´ve not seen as yet?

Re: Elvis and The Sugarcanes, Kettering, OH, 27 Aug 2009

Listening to the recording, the gig does indeed end very abruptly. Pulling the plug on the band is a real insult both to the band and the paying public..I would be outraged. Surprisingly, Elvis appears to take it surprisingly well, even making apologies for the person or organisation responsible. (I...

Umm, never thought about it this way, it seems better.

another ambiguity that puzzles me is - "There are soldiers who will kill but refuse to die" (from Alibi) Is that a good trait or a bad one ? for a soldier it might be considered good..

Yet another new song, "Poor Borowed Dress" debuted here I notice. In about 18 months.. 2 albums made, apparently 2 more in the mix. a TV series, with another in pre production, regular touring with all sorts of line ups and full time father of young twins. How does he do it? The man is a m...
