I still think this reissue thing is a scam!!!!!! Why not make a couple of collections with all the extra material so we don't have to buy every last one of his CD's for the second time..??? The new set of reissues adds 18 tracks that weren't on your old version of Almost Blue, 17 that weren't on th...

The version of "Big Nothing" on the soundtrack (the old version of the soundtrack, anyway) is unique because it lacks the Sy Richardson voiceover. The weird thing is that with all those new Pogues songs, the track listing is missing one of their songs from the original album ("The Goo...

Does anyone think Needle Time is another anti-Bruce song??? The more I look at it, the more I agree with you. The 27 years line can't just be coincidence can it? Well, 27 years is also the length of time since EC's first record and first brush with fame. I'd also point out that "women would sl...

US - July 20th UK - July 26th It may not be officially official, but it's the only word we have on it now. The US date already appears to have been pushed to August 3, as reported by Billboard yesterday. The EC on Rhino page has been updated accordingly. This may explain the confusion over whether ...

New Rhino bonus tracks revealed! (AB/GCW/KV)

The track lists for the upcoming reissues of Almost Blue , Goodbye Cruel World , and Kojak Variety are now on display at the unofficial Elvis Costello on Rhino site: http://www.geocities.com/ned3705/tracklists.html The US release date is July 20. Interesting to see a release date reported so early.

However, I'm a little suspicious since September 23 is a Thursday (and US release dates are on Tuesdays). September 23 was also the date when North was released last year.

The heel-dragging is by Elvis, not Rhino. Elvis is slow to approve track listings and write liner notes.

Re: The Delivery Man

The 'new' songs Elvis has been performing the last few shows have actually been knocking around for a while as part of a 'song cycle' called The Delivery Man . He and Steve did some of them first back in late 1999. But the songs played recently were not among those played in 1999. I don't think it'...

It occurs to me that Bruce Thomas has actually worked with Pete Townshend before, as part of Paul McCartney's "Rockestra" project in 1979.

Since it was previously reported that The Who was using Greg Lake on bass, I'm guessing they're not limiting themselves to a single bass player on the new album.

Sad to say, I failed to get tickets to the House of Blues show (that'll teach me to borrow the credit card number without also getting the security code). I'm hoping to find someone with extras, although with the concert so soon in the future, I'm afraid the odds aren't good.

Aside from "Shamed into Love," there's a second Costello/Blades composition on the album called "The Miranda Syndrome."

I'd like to believe that the February release date is accurate. But in light of the fact that they've previously been announced as coming in April, I think it's far more likely that John's information is outdated than that they've been moved up two months.

I'd love to be wrong.
