Also, there are two changes to the wheel Joker- spinner gets two cards...if they get "me", they can choose any song on the wheel. If "me", EC picks the tune Numbers Jackpot (pretty sure it is new, anyway) - Two Little Hitlers, Unwanted Number (those are two of the examples used ...

A not-so-convincing Elvis Costello impression from Greg Proops in the first sketch (though the host demands an encore). Not sure if this link will work for non-Comcast customers. http://xfinitytv.comcast.net/tv/Drew-Carey’s-Improv-A-Ganza/142622/1923147305/Drew-Carey's-Improv-A-Ganza-Season-1-Episod...

Re: Costello biographer Graeme Thomson

Given the author's history with EC, perhaps we'll finally get some insight as to why "Complicated Shadows" was never released (nor presumably recorded) by Johnny Cash. I've often wondered if Johnny ever even heard EC's demo.

Jawbone has really become an intriguing publisher.

Anyone else delighted by the return of "Luxembourg?" I get the sense that it's not very well regarded by many fans, but I've always had a soft spot for it and hope it finds a spot on the Spinning Songbook.

Re: MAIT HMV box edition

I remember they started out with The Beatles catalog (I believe at the same time the various Beatles albums were first being released on CD). These sets were highly sought after by collectors and commanded high after-market price tags. I think the concept exhausted it's potential pretty soon after t...

Re: Pomp & Pout: Best of The Universal Years , July 13 '10

It would seem the uk edition might have a slightly different track list, or Eil.com has some outdated info. They list the contents as: 1. Bedlam - Album Version 2. Stella Hurt - Album Version 3. No Hiding Place - Album Version 4. This House Is Empty Now 5. Impatience 6. Tart - Album Version 7. The S...

Alternate sequence of GET HAPPY!! On CD?

Just posted on another forum: The confusion regarding the proper sequencing of original LP release of GET HAPPY!! is well documented, and almost certainly the result of some intentional mischief on EC's part. However, I've long been under the impression that the sequencing on the CD has always been ...

Re: Hip-O Records will release Pomp & Pout by Elvis on June

If it is a BEST OF, I'd think MY MOOD SWINGS would be a better title (though I suppose the Brodskies beat him to the punch). I've drawn up my predictions what such a set might look like, keeping it to th 18 tracks like EXTREME HONEY, leaning heavily on the obvious with only a couple quasi-rarities. ...

Or perhaps a live album documenting the Toussaint tour, in which "Monkey to Man" always featured? Perhaps the same show that was used for the DVD?

Changing the subject a bit, looking at Amazon, it appears from the price of new copies, the Rhino editions of the CDs from EC's Columbia years have escalated in value (most of them quite a bit): http://www.amazon.com/s/qid=1268158554/ref=sr_pg_1?ie=UTF8&rs=5174&keywords=elvis%20costello%20rh...

Re: Elvis/'Live At Hollywood High' '78, Jan 12 '10

, anything after 1981 beings up the questions, will they go to a 2-CD set? They could avoid the problem with the Jan 7th show by only releasing the RPO half. But after that they will have to decide. With a series like this that's so clearly targeting the hard-core fans, would the couple bucks (at b...

It's also possible that the Albert Hall recording could be from December, as live tracks from the 24th or 27th (can't recall offhand) have been released before Very true. And the show that I've got (12/27) is fabulous (though I think it's the similar 12/24 show that was utilized for bonus tracks) a...
