Re: "Brutal Youth" finally getting a vinyl issue!
BY was my first "new" EC album. There's always something "magical' about your first album, isn't there? Mine was SPIKE, and in many ways I think it was the perfect "gateway drug" in the sense that if someone buys into the "anything and the kitchen sink" approach o...

Re: "Brutal Youth" finally getting a vinyl issue!
Who on earth is this vinyljunk? Just some guy in Belgium who sticks CDs onto vinyl? Looks rather dodgy to me. Apparently you can save on shipping costs when you go and collect the item? :? I can't speak to the vendor, but the release is listed as coming from Music on Vinyl, which is certainly a leg...

He seemed to miss a golden opportunity to dust off the bright and sunny wedding-themed songs in his catalog like "Harry Worth," "The Long Honeymoon," and "Imperial Bedroom." Set that couple off on the right note!
Actually wouldn't be a bad Spinning Songbook jackpot.

Re: Val Jennings Interview
UGH. That would have been SO great, to have the 2CD live series instead of the live discs attached to a third round of CD reissues. Universal really botched their whole handling of EC's catalog. Presumably they paid a fair amount of money for it without every figuring out the proper way to deal wit...

Why no Official Flip City collection?
Okay. EC isn't recording much new material these days. The Costello Show series of live releases seems to be dead (before it bothered to release any of the really interesting shows), as are the "Deluxe Edition" reissues of his early catalog. So if all that's left is to exploit the unexplor...

Re: Pomp & Pout: Best of The Universal Years -release cancel
Anyone have any insight as to what the hell happened with POMP AND POUT, anyways? Okay, perhaps it's not that surprising that Universal would elect not to bother to release a set with such limited commercial potential at a time the CD retail industry was absolutely collapsing. But what was up with t...

Yes Universal. This is exactly what Elvis Costello fans have been foaming at the mouth for. No, we don't care about the promised (and legendary) Royal Albert Hall show, or the incredible Royalty Theatre performance. God forbid you release Live At Broadway or the complete solo Warfield show. So, is t...

Re: EC's most frequently played songs
I'm going to guess Detectives for the #1 spot, with probably "Alison" #2. In both cases, they are songs he plays regardless of the style of accompanyment, be it rock, country, jazz/art, classical, EC/SN, or solo. Some of the other mainstays might be ubiquitous at his rock shows, but much l...

Elvis Costello combines game and rock elements to thrill fans By James Tutten One individual picked out by Costello introduced himself as “The Sandman” when he was brought on stage. A hard spin of the wheel landed on “Time,” one of Costello’s big hits. Costello quickly remarked “‘Time,’ what a perf...
